Dante
: an expert who has taught actors, martial artists,
hobbyists, children, athletes - a bullwhip artist whose name
is synonymous with cutting-edge, single-tail thrills - a performer as
comfortable in front of TV cameras as he is in a cabaret or private lesson - a whip handler who set a long-standing Guinness World Record.
Result: a memorable, graceful, sexy, and daring display of flowing and crackling bullwhips!
A Bullwhip Show includes sophisticated, high-energy routines and daring stunts with appropriate music accompaniment.
In a spoken-word show, Dante's humor sparkles in anecdotes, historical or educational stories.
Performance lengths are variable, to fit the show - from 3 to 20 minutes long. Demos are 45 minutes. Dante carries $2 million of variety artist liability insurance.
"Most Bullwhip Cracks in One Minute" |
...is an internationally recognized bullwhip expert who has performed and presented workshops and demonstrations coast to coast in the U.S. and Canada.
Dante has cracked the whip on numerous TV shows, including Evening Magazine, Blind Date, Playboy TV's Night
Calls, KTLA's Morning News, The Eclectic Mind, Envy TV, HBO's Real Sex, Blitz,
Sin City, and others. Dante also has spoken about whip cracking on many radio
programs, from Texas to Australia.
Dante first set the Guinness World Record for "Most bullwip cracks - minute" at the Dream Circus in Hollywood in September, 2003. He raised the bar at the Spirit of the West Festival in Sioux Falls, SD, one year later. Dante has appeared at circuses, at cabarets, and on stages, and he has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Rex Features Syndicate, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Toronto Star, and many other publications.
"The mesmerizing, seemingly incongruous act, which they perform versions of for wild west shows, circuses, cabarets and nightclubs nationwide, melds belly dancing with Robert's ballet of leather..." "...The whip can be peaceful, or powerful. With his assistant standing with her back to him, Robert can curl the whip around her body and snap in two a piece of plastic foam she holds in her hand. Or he can make the whip alight on her finger and wrap gently around it, or he can slice a piece of newspaper from the arch of her back." Minneapolis Star Tribune feature article, "The Bullwhipper and the Belly Dancer" June 27, 2004

True Skill and Showmanship
Robert- Just wanted to drop you a line and let you what a pleasure it was to work with you on the event at the Doral Country Club in Florida. I have spent a couple years now talking with you and seeing your talents on video, pictures and, of course, your Guinness record. However, I can honestly say that no other form of media can allow someone to see the true skill and showmanship that you have other than LIVE. From the very beginning when you and Joey Dillon (two years in a row Gun Spinning champion) walked into our set up and rehearsal, I was just floored at the caliber of talent this evening's audience was in for. When you got up and started handling the whips and moving around I gained a new respect for the whips like never before. As for the audience, when you put out the candle lights (3) with your whip I saw something very amazing ... 300 people holding their breaths until you were done (sure glad you did not have a dozen candles). You honestly took me from seeing whips as a PART of our show to the ART of our show! Thanks! Robert Basgall Wild West Performers http://www.wildwestperformers.com |
